Professor Funmi Olonisakin serves as Vice President (International, Engagement & Service) and Professor of Security, Leadership & Development at King's College London. She founded the African Leadership Centre to develop new approaches to peace and security in Africa. Her interdisciplinary research examines conflict prevention and youth empowerment in post-colonial states.
Olonisakin's research investigates leadership development in fragile states, youth participation in peace processes, and gender-inclusive security frameworks. Her field work has significantly influenced UN policy frameworks on peacebuilding.
Honored with the Fellowship of King's College and honorary doctorate from University of Pretoria, she has advised UN Secretary-Generals on peacebuilding architecture. Current initiatives examine governance structures in transitional societies and the role of education in conflict prevention.
