Fumi Nakayama is a Lecturer in the Music Department at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and an adjunct faculty member at Carthage College's Music Department. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano and Harpsichord from Roosevelt University and a Master of Music in Piano and Early Music/Harpsichord from Indiana University, where she received prestigious awards. Her expertise spans piano performance, early music, orchestral conducting, and vocal coaching. She is certified in Dalcroze Eurhythmics by the Juilliard School and frequently collaborates with Midwest music educators and artists.
Her conducting experience includes leading the Indiana University Symphony Orchestra and Opera Workshops. She served as an opera coach at Indiana University for six years, driven by her passion for vocal music and theater. She performs with the Cecilia Trio and engages in collaborative projects with Milwaukee and Chicago artists.
Awards include the Rudolph Ganz Memorial Award and Willi Apel Scholarship. Her teaching and performance activities emphasize interdisciplinary music education and historical performance practices.
