Fuji Jian

Dr. Fuji Jian is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biosystems Engineering at the University of Manitoba's Price Faculty of Engineering. His research focuses on enhancing food safety and security through post-harvest grain quality management, stored-product protection, and innovative sensor technologies. He holds a Ph.D. in Biosystems Engineering (2003) and is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).

Key research areas include insect control strategies, material segregation in stored grains, and the application of advanced techniques like X-ray tomography and deep learning for pest detection. His work addresses challenges in grain aeration, low-temperature storage, and controlled atmosphere systems to optimize storage conditions and reduce pest impacts.

Dr. Jian has contributed to large-scale studies on wheat storage in corrugated steel bins and developed models for predicting seed germination and safe storage durations. His interdisciplinary approach integrates engineering principles with biological systems to improve agricultural sustainability and reduce post-harvest losses.
