Frode Helland

Frode Helland is a Professor of Scandinavian Literature at the University of Oslo (since 2004) and Dean of Humanities (2019–present). He previously chaired the Department of Scandinavian Studies and Comparative Literature at NTNU (2002–2004) and directed the Centre for Ibsen Studies (2005–2011, 2012–2018).

Article Trends focus on Ibsen's global reception, critical discourse analysis, and intersections of racism, philosophy, and cultural identity. His work spans literary theory, cross-cultural adaptations, and critiques of modernist and capitalist realist movements in theatre.

Honours:

• Member of The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters (2021–present)

Advising and Grants: Supervised 15 PhD students and numerous MA/BA students. Led projects like "Ibsen Between Cultures" (Norwegian Research Council) and "Ibsen in Translation" (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 2008–2018).
