Dr. Friederike Römer is a Research Fellow at the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB). Her work focuses on migration, integration, intercultural conflicts, and social science research methods. She has held research positions in the President's Project Group and the 'Immigration Policies in Comparison' (IMPIC) research unit, collaborating on projects analyzing immigrant welfare rights and cross-national immigration policy frameworks.
Education includes a B.A. in Sociology and English Literature (2005–2008) and an M.A. in Sociology (2009–2011), both from the University of Mannheim, with additional graduate studies at Indiana University Bloomington (2008–2009) supported by a DAAD scholarship. She has extensive experience as a research assistant at institutions like the Centre for Survey Research and Methodology (ZUMA/GESIS) and the Institute for Research of Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises (ifm).
Her research emphasizes comparative analyses of immigration policies and welfare rights, contributing to databases like the IMPIC Dataset. Collaborative projects include co-authoring technical reports and peer-reviewed articles on policy measurement and cross-country comparisons.
