Frederik Diness serves as Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry within the Faculty of Science at the University of Copenhagen. His research group focuses on green bioorganic chemistry, biomolecules, and chemical biology, developing chemistry-based tools for disease treatment and environmentally friendly chemical production.
His research interests span Organic Chemistry, Protein Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Green Chemistry, G Protein-Coupled Receptors, Cell Biology, Enzyme Inhibition, and related fields. Current projects include developing biodegradable plastics, protein-drug conjugation for anti-cancer agents, covalent enzyme inhibition for viral infections, chemical modification of bioactive peptides, and nucleophilic aromatic substitution mechanisms.
Recent publications demonstrate strong focus on peptide engineering, nucleophilic aromatic substitution (SNAr), protein modification, and sustainable materials. His work shows consistent emphasis on green chemistry applications and therapeutic development through chemical innovation. Key collaborators include N. H. Fischer, M. T. Oliveira, and P. W. Thulstrup.
- 2015-Present: Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, University of Copenhagen
- 2016-Present: CEO, AAA Chemistry ApS
- 2013-2018: Research Centre Coordinator, Centre for Evolutionary Chemical Biology
His research group actively explores reaction mechanisms of organic molecules, peptide structure-property relationships, and molecular interactions with biological systems. The group maintains strong industry connections through his CEO position at AAA Chemistry ApS and collaborates internationally, particularly with Australian institutions.
