Franziska Schößler is Professor of Modern German Literature at the University of Trier, where she has taught since 2004 after completing her habilitation at the University of Freiburg and serving as senior lecturer at Bielefeld. Her research integrates theatre and drama studies, cultural studies, gender studies and the interrelations between literature and economics, with particular emphasis on contemporary drama, GDR theatre transformations, and literary representations of crisis, labour and consumption.

Research Interests:
Her work spans contemporary drama and theatre, literature and economics, gender studies, cultural studies, literary theory, post-1989 theatre, and ecocritical approaches to literature. She currently leads projects on crisis discourses in the independent theatre scene and resilience in GDR theatre after 1989.

Supervision & Grants:
She has supervised more than 25 completed doctorates and currently mentors eight doctoral projects. Major grants include the DFG collaborative project “Crisis Structures of the Arts” and the SFB 600 project on poverty and alterity.
Teaching & International Engagement:
Regular guest professorships have taken her to Vienna, St. Petersburg, Vancouver (UBC), L’viv, Łódź, Debrecen, London and Ghent. At Trier she offers courses on drama analysis, theatre after 1989, ecocriticism, and thesis colloquia.
