Franziska Haug

Franziska Haug is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Regensburg's Department of Slavic Literature and Cultural Studies, affiliated with the Volkswagen Foundation-funded project 'Light On! Queer Literatures and Cultures under Socialism.' Her research focuses on queer GDR literature, materialist feminism, and aesthetic gender production. Previously, she was a research assistant at Goethe University Frankfurt, where she coordinated the Book and Media Practice program and served as a Gender Equality Officer.

Haug's scholarly interests center on queer materialism, socialist gender policies, and literary representations of identity under socialism. She explores intersections of labor, gender, and aesthetics in both historical (GDR) and contemporary contexts, with emphasis on antisemitism in feminist discourse and queer theoretical frameworks.

Her publications exhibit a consistent focus on deconstructing gender norms through materialist and queer lenses, with recent work analyzing GDR literary archives, pop culture's role in gender production, and critiques of identity politics. She frequently collaborates with interdisciplinary research networks including DiasporaOst and the Forum kritischer Wissenschaften.
