معرفی
Dr. Frank M. Faraci is a Professor at the University of Iowa, affiliated with the Department of Internal Medicine-Cardiovascular Medicine, Neuroscience, and Pharmacology. His research is funded by an NIH Program Project Grant on Cerebral Vascular Biology.
- PhD, Kansas State University
- Postdoctoral Fellow, Cardiology, University of Iowa
- MA, University of Kansas
Dr. Faraci's research focuses on vascular biology, particularly the structure and function of cerebral blood vessels. His work explores endothelial biology, vascular dysfunction in hypertension, diabetes, inflammation, and aging, with a strong emphasis on oxidative stress in stroke and vascular cognitive impairment. The Faraci Lab employs genetically altered mice and viral-mediated gene transfer to investigate these mechanisms.
Dr. Faraci's recent publications highlight his work on oxidative stress in vascular dysfunction, hypertension's role in cerebrovascular disease, and mechanisms underlying stroke and cognitive impairment. His research spans molecular approaches to clinical implications in cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Faraci directs an NIH Program Project Grant on Cerebral Vascular Biology and is actively involved in mentoring students through the Medical Scientist Training Program and Translational Biomedicine Center.
The Faraci Lab is located in the Carver Biomedical Research Building (CBRB) at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa. The lab collaborates with the Cardiovascular Research Center and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center.
