Frank Jordan is the Moon and Verna Landrieu Distinguished Professor of Biological Sciences at Loyola University New Orleans. His research focuses on freshwater and estuarine ecology, with an emphasis on fish conservation, population dynamics modeling, and invasive species management. He collaborates extensively with students on field and laboratory studies, emphasizing hands-on learning. Jordan holds a Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of Florida and B.S./M.S. degrees in Biological Sciences from Florida State University.
His teaching philosophy prioritizes challenging yet supportive environments, integrating fieldwork and lab experiences. He teaches courses including Animal Behavior, Marine Biology and Conservation, and Tropical Ecology (offered through study abroad programs in Belize, Roatan, and Ecuador).
Research interests include wetland and stream ecosystems, endangered fish species like the Okaloosa darter, and innovative monitoring techniques. His work bridges ecological theory and practical conservation, with notable contributions to understanding invasive species impacts and stream restoration efficacy.
