Frank Jansman is a Professor by special appointment in Clinical Pharmacy (Oncology-Pharmacy) at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Science and Engineering. He holds dual affiliations with the PharmacoTherapy, Epidemiology and Economics department and the Real World Studies in PharmacoEpidemiology group at the UMCG. His expertise focuses on clinical pharmacology, drug interactions, oncology pharmacotherapy, and health technology assessment. He is actively involved in guideline development for managing drug interactions with anticancer drugs and serves on multiple national and international committees, including the Dutch Expertgroup Anticancer Drug Interactions and the Dutch Pharmacists Association (KNMP).
Research Interests: Dr. Jansman's work centers on optimizing drug therapies for cancer patients, particularly investigating pharmacokinetic drug interactions, therapeutic drug monitoring, and cost-effective dosing strategies for anticancer agents. His recent studies explore oxycodone metabolism in cancer patients, pazopanib dosing regimens, and vitamin D supplementation in multiple myeloma patients. He also evaluates health technology policies for oncology drugs and develops clinical guidelines to improve medication safety.
Key Achievements: Has published 108 peer-reviewed articles, with recent works focusing on P-glycoprotein-mediated interactions and LC-MS/MS methods for drug quantification. Received notable awards including the 2020 Senior Jan Glerum Education Award and 2011 Medication Safety Award. His research has practical applications in clinical practice, including developing drug interaction websites for oncologists and pharmacists.
Professional Activities: Chairs several national expert groups, serves on the KNMP Spring Congress board, and evaluates biomedical research ethics. Engages in media outreach to raise awareness about drug safety issues, including BNR Nieuwsradio interviews about medication interactions.
Lab & Teams: Leads research teams in pharmacoepidemiology and clinical pharmacology, collaborating with multidisciplinary groups across oncology, pharmacy, and healthcare economics. His work bridges clinical practice and policy through translational research initiatives.
