Frank Huijben is a Lecturer in Biobased Construction at HZ University of Applied Sciences and Avans University of Applied Sciences, part of the MNEXT partnership. His work focuses on advancing sustainable building practices through natural materials like bamboo, hemp, and flax.
During his inauguration at Building T in Bergen op Zoom, Huijben emphasized the societal value of biobased materials, including their role in creating healthier indoor climates and enhancing well-being. The event attracted 130 attendees from academia, government, and industry, underscoring cross-sector collaboration.
Huijben’s research aligns with the HZ and Avans partnership’s mission to innovate in biobased solutions, with masterclasses delivered by his research group. A musician in his spare time, he performed rock songs during the inauguration, reflecting his theme of 'coming together' for a sustainable future.
