Dr. Frank Grundig is a Lecturer in International Relations and Deputy-Director of the Global Challenges Doctoral Centre at the University of Kent. He joined the university in 2007, previously teaching at the University of Essex and serving as a Marie Curie Fellow. His research focuses on international institutions, climate change, environmental politics, and sustainable development, with current projects in Southeast Asia and Latin America. He teaches undergraduate courses, including Politics and IR Internships, and supervises students on topics like climate policy attitudes and international cooperation mechanisms.
Grundig's research emphasizes climate change attitudes, institutional effectiveness, and the interplay between international regimes and domestic politics. His work bridges environmental policy with international relations theories, including neoliberal institutionalism and realism. He actively collaborates with institutions in Thailand and Malaysia on climate policy trade-offs and Southeast Asian climate action strategies.
As Deputy-Director of the Global Challenges Doctoral Centre, he amplifies research on sustainable development linked to climate change. His contributions span peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, addressing topics like formal models of climate cooperation and regime effectiveness.
