Radoslav Dimitrov is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at Simon Fraser University. His research focuses on climate change negotiations, UN diplomacy, international institutions, and global environmental politics. With 20 years of participation in UN conferences, he represented the European Union in climate negotiations and contributed to the Paris Agreement.
Dimitrov's research explores the politics of policymaking through participatory observation of international diplomacy. He introduced key concepts to global governance scholarship including 'empty institutions' and 'non-regimes', examining institutional roles, negotiating strategies, argumentation, persuasion, and science-policy interactions.
His publications demonstrate consistent focus on climate governance mechanisms, diplomatic processes, and institutional effectiveness in environmental politics. Research spans negotiation strategies, agreement implementation, multilateral cooperation challenges, and comparative policy analysis across global environmental issues.
