Frank Edwards is an Associate Professor at Rutgers University's School of Criminal Justice. His research examines racial inequality in child welfare systems and policing practices, with work funded by organizations including the Russell Sage Foundation. Dr. Edwards earned his PhD in Sociology from the University of Washington (2017), following an MA from DePaul University and BA from University of Texas at Austin.
His research explores two primary domains: child protection systems as sites of family disruption linked to carceral policies, and police-involved killings analyzed through Bayesian methods to quantify mortality risk by demographic factors. Edwards' scholarship has appeared in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, American Sociological Review, and American Journal of Public Health.
