Monica C. Bell is a Professor of Law and Counselor to the Dean at Yale Law School, as well as an Associate Professor of Sociology at Yale University. Her interdisciplinary work bridges law and sociology to examine race and class inequality, focusing on policing, violence, welfare systems, housing segregation, and legal estrangement.

Research Interests:
Professor Bell’s scholarship analyzes how legal systems perpetuate or mitigate racial and economic disparities. Key themes include:

- Welfare policy design and governance
- Urban marginalization and spatial inequality
- Community engagement in criminal justice systems
