معرفی
Dr. Frank Biedermann is a Group Leader at the Institute of Nanotechnology, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), where he leads the research group Development of SupraSensors and Assays for Molecular Diagnostics, formerly known as the Emmy-Noether Group on Analyte Detection with High Affinity Chemosensors. His research is currently supported by an ERC Consolidator Grant, underscoring the international recognition and excellence of his work.
His research focuses on supramolecular chemosensors for applications in sensing, imaging, and molecular diagnostics. The group designs artificial receptors for small biomolecules by combining specific host-analyte interactions with the non-classical hydrophobic effect, employing a biomimetic strategy. They utilize optical spectroscopy (fluorescence, absorbance, chemiluminescence, chiroptical) and electrochemical methods (voltammetry, electrochemiluminescence) for signal detection, with current efforts directed toward monitoring dynamic processes like enzymatic reactions and adapting sensors for use in living cells.
The Biedermann Group is multidisciplinary, integrating expertise in organic synthesis, materials chemistry, assay development, data processing, and biofluid analysis. They maintain SupraBank.org, an online repository for thermodynamic and kinetic data on non-covalent and host-guest complexes.

Dr. Biedermann advises PhD and Master's students and regularly recruits postdoctoral researchers and interns. His team is currently working on interdisciplinary projects involving AI and large language models (LLMs) for SupraBank.org. The group is actively engaged in research innovation and scientific collaboration.
He completed his Habilitation in Organic Chemistry in April 2024, a significant academic achievement in the German system. The Biedermann Labs is a vibrant research environment, hosting events and welcoming new members, reflecting an active and growing research program.
