Frank Anderson serves as the Stephen Olford Chair of Expository Preaching and Associate Professor of Ministry and Missions at Union University’s School of Theology and Missions. He is also the Director of the Center for Racial Reconciliation. Prior to joining Union in 2010, he held roles as dean of the School of Bible and Theology and dean of the Chapel at Crichton College (Memphis, TN), president of the Memphis Center for Urban Theological Studies and the Center for Urban Theological Studies in Philadelphia, PA, and served as a senior pastor at True Light Baptist Church (1992–2019) and pastor at True Liberty Baptist Church. He was ordained in 1980 and is a native Memphian.
Frank holds a Ph.D. and M.Div. from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary and a B.B.A. from the University of Memphis. His educational background includes degrees in theology and business administration.
His research focuses on
- Practical Theology (with emphasis on preaching and urban contexts),
- Church History,
- Systematic Theology,
- and issues related to racial reconciliation.
He actively contributes to campus life through chapel addresses and events like SAC's Be Our Guest, where he engages students in discussions and social activities. His recent talks include sermons on service, repentance, and themes from Mark and 1 John.
In addition to his academic role, Frank co-leads a life group at First Baptist Church-Jackson and collaborates with Olford Ministries International as a board member. He and his wife, Vernetta, volunteer in community welfare projects, visit museums, and host gatherings for friends and family.
