Jay Robertson serves as an Associate Professor of Systematic Theology and director of the theology program at the University of Mobile's Center for Christian Calling. He has taught at the university for 18 years while simultaneously serving as pastor for preaching and vision at Crawford Baptist Church in Mobile for 30 years.
His educational background includes:
- PhD in Systematic Theology with minors in Church History and Preaching from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary
- Master of Divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary
Robertson's academic focus centers on doctrinal precision across core theological domains. He teaches courses including Systematic Theology (his specialty), Biblical Interpretation, Christian Apologetics, and Global Disciple-making, emphasizing how proper theological understanding produces Christlikeness. His work bridges academic rigor with pastoral application, grounded in the conviction that 'theology matters' for Christian formation and ministry.
Through the Center for Christian Calling, he prepares students for teaching ministry and graduate studies by equipping them to articulate biblical truth clearly in preaching, counseling, and conversation. Robertson's approach integrates A.W. Tozer's insight that 'the most important thing about you is what comes into your mind when you think about God,' fostering deep engagement with divine revelation.
