Franck BARBIER

Franck BARBIER is a Professor at the Polytechnic University of Hauts-de-France, currently serving as Vice President Delegate for the Health sector since October 2024. Previously, he was Vice President for the Training Council (2016-2024) and Director of the Faculty of Sports Sciences and Professions (2009-2016), after serving as its Deputy Director (2005-2009).

His academic background includes a PhD in Automation from UVHC (1994) and a Habilitation to Direct Research in STAPS from UVHC (2005). He conducts research at LAMIH UMR-CNRS 8201, where he led the Human and Life Sciences department from 2012 to 2016.

Professor BARBIER specializes in biomechanics and three-dimensional human movement analysis, with research bridging engineering, sports science, and rehabilitation. His work emphasizes practical applications in athletic performance and clinical settings, supported by sustained collaborations with the University of Montreal and Laval University since 1996. He has organized numerous international conferences and served as President of the International Society of Biomechanics' Technical Group on 3D Human Movement Analysis (2004-2006).

He has secured over 30 industrial research contracts and co-invented an international patent. His leadership extends to managing research portfolios and fostering industry-academia partnerships within the biomechanics domain.

At LAMIH UMR-CNRS 8201, he developed interdisciplinary research initiatives at the intersection of mechanical engineering, life sciences, and sports technology, directing the Human and Life Sciences department for four years.
