Dr. Francisco Vaz da Silva is an Associate Professor at the Department of Anthropology, ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon, with a focus on symbolic representations in comparative anthropology and fairy tales. He has held visiting professorships at the University of California (Berkeley and Los Angeles), University of Lisbon, Reykjavik University, and University of Tartu.
- PhD in Social Anthropology (1995) and Anthropology of the Symbolic (1995)
- Bachelor's and Associate's degrees in Anthropology from New University of Lisbon (1983) and ISCTE (2002)
