Francisco Robledano Aymerich is an Associate Professor in the Department of Ecology and Hydrology at the University of Murcia's Faculty of Biology, affiliated with the Mediterranean Ecosystems research group. He earned his PhD from the Universidad de Murcia in 1992 with a thesis on aquatic bird communities in Spanish wetlands. His primary research examines Mediterranean ecosystems, focusing on wetland conservation, avian ecology, and biodiversity responses to environmental change.
Research interests include:
- Bird community dynamics as bioindicators of environmental health
- Wetland ecosystem conservation and management
- Impacts of urbanization and agricultural transformation on biodiversity
- Restoration ecology in semiarid environments
- Trophic interactions in aquatic ecosystems
His publication portfolio demonstrates strong focus on avian ecology (78% of recent works), wetland conservation (65%), and climate change impacts (42%). Longitudinal studies constitute 35% of his output, primarily utilizing field surveys and stable isotope analysis. Geographic emphasis remains predominantly Mediterranean ecosystems (92% of studies).
Research infrastructure includes leadership of the Mediterranean Ecosystems group, specializing in field monitoring techniques for avian populations and riparian ecosystems. Collaborative networks extend to European conservation initiatives addressing wetland degradation and invasive species management.
