معرفی
Prof. Ali Uzun is a Professor in the Department of Biology at Sakarya University's Faculty of Science. His research focuses on ornithology, ecology, biodiversity conservation, and environmental monitoring, with emphasis on bird behavior, wetland ecosystems, and ecological assessments using bioindicators. He actively collaborates on national biodiversity projects and mentors graduate students in avian and aquatic studies.
Research Interests: His work spans avian ecology, limnology, and conservation biology, examining species like the Great Reed Warbler, Eurasian Coot, and Little Egret. Key themes include breeding ecology, habitat use, environmental stressors, and biodiversity inventories in Turkish wetlands and coastal regions.
Publications Focus: Uzun's articles (2010–2024) predominantly analyze bird breeding behaviors, wetland health using diatom indices, and impacts of environmental variables on species. Recurring topics include nest success, clutch dynamics, and anthropogenic effects on aquatic ecosystems.
Student Advising & Grants: He has supervised ≥14 master's students in projects on bird karyology, heavy metal bioaccumulation, and species ecology. Major funded projects include:
- Biodiversity inventories for Turkey's Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs (2015)
- Ecological corridor mapping for the Ministry of Environment (ongoing)
- Wetland management plans for Lake Sapanca (2015)
Collaborations: Leads interdisciplinary teams with experts in botany, ichthyology, and GIS for large-scale conservation initiatives, including climate impact studies in protected areas like Gökova Bay.
