Francisco Eissa Barroso

Dr. Francisco Eissa Barroso is a Senior Lecturer in Latin American History at the University of Manchester, specializing in early modern Spanish America and the broader Hispanic World. He holds a PhD in History from the University of Warwick (2011) and has held academic positions including a CONACyT Postdoctoral Fellowship at El Colegio de Michoacán and a Santander Early Career Fellowship at Warwick. His research focuses on political culture, mobility studies, and disability history in the early modern period, with a particular emphasis on the Bourbon reforms and transatlantic dynamics.

His AHRC-funded project Trajectories of Reform investigated administrative networks under the Bourbons. He supervises postgraduate students on Latin American social and political history.
