Francisco Diaz

Francisco Diaz serves as an Adjunct Instructor at Texas Southmost College (TSC), teaching Biology laboratory courses within the HHMI-funded SEA-PHAGES program. He holds a Master's Degree from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) with additional science coursework completed at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

His research trajectory evolved from Marine Biology to Evolutionary Biology and Zoology, and he is currently expanding into Microbiology and Biochemistry. With ten years of high school teaching experience, Diaz brings substantial pedagogical expertise to undergraduate education.

As primary instructor for SEA-PHAGES, he led Fall 2022's Biology I Lab (BIOL 1106-M01) with 17 students conducting Microbacterium foliorum-based phage discovery, and Spring 2023's Biology II Lab (BIOL 1107-M01) with 8 students performing bioinformatics analysis. His work integrates authentic research experiences through HHMI's national phage genomics initiative.
