Dr. Francis Ruel Geronimo is an Associate Professor in Medicine and Course Director at the Charles Sturt University (CSU) School of Rural Medicine. He previously held leadership roles at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and University of Notre Dame Australia School of Medicine Sydney. He obtained his MD from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine and a PhD in Medicine from the University of Sydney. His expertise spans medical education, assessment design, and cardiovascular research.
Dr. Geronimo has extensive experience in curriculum development, particularly in anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology. He has led projects on innovative teaching methodologies, including flipped learning and digital media assessments. His work includes grants funded by initiatives like the First-Year Experience program, aiming to enhance student retention and success.
He has contributed to medical education policy, participating in committees for academic integrity, language competency, and OSCE assessments. His research focuses on pedagogy, assessment metrics, and cardiovascular medicine, with a particular interest in lipidology and plaque stability. He currently serves as Deputy Medical Editor for the Medical Journal of Australia.
