Francine Kay is a Professor of Piano and Chamber Music at Princeton University's Music Department. Known for her intense interpretations, she has performed internationally at venues like Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Salle Gaveau. Her recordings include the JUNO-nominated Debussy album and the acclaimed Things Lived and Dreamt (2023). She holds degrees from The Juilliard School, SUNY Stony Brook, and the Glenn Gould School, studying under Gilbert Kalish and Leon Fleisher.
Her career highlights include solo performances with orchestras such as the Toronto Symphony and collaborations with the Harlem and Penderecki String Quartets. Awards include the Pro Piano Competition's top prize and recognition in Fono Forum.
Teaching extensively at Princeton, she leads courses in instrumental performance and chamber music. Her engagements include residencies at the Zodiac Academy (France) and the Chopin Festival (Czech Republic).
