Francesca Tataranni is the Charles Deering McCormick Distinguished University Professor of Instruction of Classics at Northwestern University and Director of the Latin Program. She specializes in the history of Archaic and Republican Rome, focusing on ethnicity in pre-Roman Italy. Her research extends to classical receptions in modern America, particularly through collaborations like the Classicizing Chicago Project and a digital humanities seminar titled *Ancient Rome in Chicago*, which produced a virtual walking tour of Chicago's classical influences. She holds a PhD in Ancient History from the University of Pisa.
Teaching awards include the WCAS Alumni Teaching Award (2009) and eight Faculty Honor Roll recognitions. She co-leads the Kaplan Institute Classical Receptions Research Workshop and has secured grants from the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations and Alumnae of Northwestern University for curriculum development. Her work bridges ancient history and modern urban culture, emphasizing digital humanities methodologies.
