معرفی
Francesca Salvatori is a Part-Time Lecturer in the Department of Classics and Ancient History at Durham University, where she is also completing her PhD funded by the AHRC–Northern Bridge Consortium. She holds an MA in Classical Philology from Sapienza University of Rome. Her doctoral research examines Ovid’s Ibis as a Roman elegy through a linguistic pragmatic approach, challenging traditional interpretations of the poem’s place within Ovid’s oeuvre.
Her research interests center on Latin elegiac poetry, particularly Ovid’s exilic works, and the application of communication theories (e.g., Grice’s maxims) to ancient texts. She has presented at international conferences, including discussions on Ovid’s use of otium and the communicative strategies in his exile poetry.
Key contributions include analyses of Ovid’s Tristia and Epistulae ex Ponto, exploring their political undertones and narrative identity construction. Her work bridges classical philology with modern linguistic pragmatics, offering fresh insights into Roman poetic discourse.
