She leads the Marine Sciences Master program and coordinates interdisciplinary research on paleoclimatology, Antarctic dynamics, and sustainable ocean management. Her work integrates marine palynology, geochemistry, and micropaleontology to study long-term climate changes.
Education: PhD in Marine Environmental Sciences from the University of Bologna (Italy), followed by postdoctoral research in the Netherlands since 2005.
Research focuses on Antarctic and polar oceanography, dinocyst ecology, and human-impacted coastal zones. Key projects include the SWAIS2C initiative on West Antarctic Ice Sheet sensitivity and the Sustainable Ocean Community within Utrecht University's Pathways to Sustainability program.
