معرفی
Evi Wubben is a Visiting Researcher and PhD candidate at Utrecht University's Department of Earth Sciences within the Faculty of Geosciences. She is affiliated with the Marine Palynology and Palaeoceanography research group. Her work focuses on reconstructing Cenozoic climate dynamics through interdisciplinary methodologies.
Education
- PhD Candidate (2019–present): Utrecht University, Department of Earth Sciences. Supervisors: Prof. Dr. Appy Sluijs, Dr. Francesca Sangiorgi, Dr. Francien Peterse
- MSc Earth, Life and Climate (2016–2019): Utrecht University. Thesis: Climate and oceanography of Antarctic regions during the Miocene Climatic Optimum
- BSc Earth Sciences (2013–2016): Utrecht University. Thesis: Benthic oxygen isotope analysis of the Sea of Japan
Research Focus
Her research reconstructs equilibrium climate sensitivity and polar amplification during the Miocene Climatic Optimum. She employs integrated techniques including biomarker paleothermometry (organic geochemistry), inorganic geochemistry, and palynological analysis on marine sediment transects spanning pole-to-equator gradients. This work is part of an ERC-funded project examining climate variability during Cenozoic warm periods.
Professional Activities
- Board member of the Palaeobotanical & Palynological Society Utrecht (PPGU)
- Field research experience: 10-day oceanographic expedition to Rockall Bank (Ireland) through NICO initiative, conducting CTD measurements and sediment analysis
- Internship at Natural History Museum Rotterdam: Morphological identification of mammal fossils
