Francesca Rollins serves as Associate Professor, Co-Chair of Communication Studies and Theatre, and Director of Theatre within Mercer University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Her work spans scenic/lighting design, stage management, and technology integration in theatrical production across diverse venues nationwide.
She holds a B.A. from Wesleyan University and M.F.A. from University of Oregon. Her research examines intersections of traditional stagecraft with digital tools, sustainable materials, and innovative design approaches to enhance aesthetic, functional, and ecological dimensions of theatre. Rollins emphasizes student-centered, hands-on pedagogy grounded in production and storytelling.
Her 2024 publication "Toby’s Campus Tour" exemplifies applied theatre education, demonstrating how campus environments become dynamic storytelling spaces through theatrical techniques. Current work trends focus on technology-driven sustainability and collaborative production management frameworks.
Rollins maintains an active studio practice with regional theatre engagements while balancing academic leadership responsibilities at Mercer's Tattnall Square Center for the Arts.
