Dr. Francesca Hooft is an Assistant Professor at the Department of History and Art History, Utrecht University, within the School of Humanities. Her research focuses on the History of International Relations, with a particular emphasis on civilian-military relations, military history, humanitarian ethics, and transitional justice.

Her work explores the tensions between professional identities in military contexts, such as those between medical and military ethics during operations. Dr. Hooft actively participates in academic events, including the 2024 Asklepios en het Zwaard symposium and the 2022 ICMM Workshop on Military Medical Ethics. She has presented at conferences like the New Research in Military History Conference (2019) and the New Voices in the History of War (2018).
