Frances Robertson is a Senior Lecturer in Architecture at Sheffield Hallam University. She became a registered architect in 1990 after working in London practices and holds a PhD from the University of Bath (2023) on 'The Future Practice of Architectural Technology'. She joined Sheffield Hallam in 2001 as an Associate Lecturer and became full-time in 2006, leading the Architectural Technology undergraduate degree until 2016.

Her research focuses on architectural technology, BIM, and educational practices. She develops curriculum to prepare students for MCIAT status and leads initiatives addressing the BME attainment gap in higher education.
Her publications examine interdisciplinary BIM workshops and perceptions of architectural technology in nuclear contexts.
As an external examiner and CIAT assessor, she contributes to architectural education quality standards across multiple institutions.
