Fran Smith

Dr Fran Smith serves as a Lecturer in the Psychology Department at City St George's, University of London, where she teaches on the Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology program. Her responsibilities include research supervision, leading the Cognitive Behavioral Approaches module, and acting as Senior Tutor for Research for first and second year students.

Her academic qualifications include:

Dr Smith's research centers on clinical health psychology with emphasis on adjustment processes. Key interests span body image, obesity management, plastic surgery impacts, and adaptation to chronic/acute health conditions. She actively explores mindfulness applications, acceptance and commitment therapy, and compassion-focused interventions through qualitative methodologies, particularly Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), to investigate lived experiences in health contexts.
