Folashade Otegbeye

Dr. Folashade Otegbeye is an Academic Associate Professor in the Translational Science and Therapeutics Division at Fred Hutch Cancer Center and an Associate Professor in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Washington. She serves as Facility Director of the Therapeutics Products Program at Fred Hutch Cancer Center and is a Clinical and Immune Effector Cell Program Inspector with the Foundation for Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), where she also serves on the Cell Therapy Accreditation Committee.

Dr. Otegbeye received her M.B.Ch.B. from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria and her M.P.H. from Harvard School of Public Health. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Yale New Haven Health and is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, and Hematology.

Dr. Otegbeye's clinical specialty focuses on allogeneic stem cell transplantation for all hematologic indications, with particular emphasis on bone marrow failure syndromes and myeloproliferative disorders. Her research spans transplant immunobiology and immune effector cell therapy for various malignancies. She has made significant contributions to the field of cellular therapy, particularly in CAR T-cell treatments for lymphoma and other hematologic malignancies.

Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on advancing cellular immunotherapies, with particular attention to predictive modeling of treatment complications, standardization of nomenclature in cellular therapies, and innovative approaches to treating post-transplant relapses. Her work bridges clinical practice with translational research to improve outcomes for patients undergoing complex cellular therapies.

As Facility Director of the Therapeutics Products Program at Fred Hutch, Dr. Otegbeye oversees critical infrastructure for developing and implementing advanced cellular therapies. Her leadership in the Foundation for Accreditation of Cellular Therapy further demonstrates her commitment to advancing standards in the field.
