Fofi Constantinidou is Professor of Language Disorders and Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Cyprus, where she directs the Center for Applied Neuroscience (CAN). A certified Speech-Language pathologist (ASHA) and Brain Injury Specialist (BIAA), her research examines neuropsychological outcomes of acquired brain disorders including traumatic brain injury, stroke, and dementia. With over €9 million in research funding, her Neurocognitive Research Laboratory investigates memory, language, and executive function impairments through neurophysiological approaches.
Research focuses on three primary domains:
- Neurorehabilitation protocols for brain injury recovery
- Longitudinal cognitive aging trajectories
- Sensory-cognitive interactions in dementia
Recent publications emphasize post-COVID cognitive effects (40%), dementia interventions (27%), and neuropsychological assessment innovations (20%). Leads multinational initiatives including SENSE-Cog and BRAINN projects. Served as President of the Cyprus Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and on the Board of Governors of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine. Recognized with the 2013 Distinguished Researcher Award for the NEUROAGE study, Cyprus' first longitudinal cognitive aging research.
