Lauren Grebe is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at St. John’s University (since 2023). She holds a Ph.D. in Speech Language Hearing Sciences from The Graduate Center, CUNY, an M.A. in Communication Science and Disorders from St. John’s University, and a B.S. in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology from Molloy University. Her research focuses on how lifetime experiences and exposures influence clinical progression in dementia and aging populations, particularly cognitive reserve mechanisms in frontotemporal dementia and semantic variant primary progressive aphasia.
Grebe is a NY state-certified speech-language pathologist with clinical experience in adult and geriatric care. She is affiliated with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and the Alzheimer's Association International Society to Advance Alzheimer’s Research and Treatment (ISTAART) Reserve, Resilience and Protective Factors Executive Committee. Her recent work includes presentations at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) and the Psychonomic Society.
Teaching interests include courses such as CSD 1750: Speech Science and CSD 322: Communication Problems of Geriatric Persons. Her research spans dementia neurology, cognitive aging, and clinical applications of neuropsychological assessment tools.
