Floris Verhaart is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Exeter, contributing to the Cultures of Philosophy project with a focus on the Dutch Republic. He previously held postdoctoral positions at the University of Warwick, Queen’s University Belfast, and University College Cork, following the completion of his DPhil in History at the University of Oxford.
His research centers on intellectual and religious cultures of the early modern period, particularly in the Low Countries, France, and the British Isles. Key areas include:
- Neo-Latin studies
- Reformed theology and Protestant politics
- Classical learning and scholarly networks
- Intellectual exchange in early modern Europe
Floris has authored and co-edited several significant volumes, including Classical Learning in Britain, France, and the Dutch Republic, 1690–1750 (OUP, 2020) and Protestant Politics beyond Calvin (Routledge, 2022). A major forthcoming edition of the correspondence of Dominicus Baudius (with Paul Botley), to be published by Droz in 2025, underscores his contribution to primary source scholarship. His work reflects a strong engagement with transnational intellectual history and the role of language and theology in shaping early modern thought.
He has not been awarded any scientific prizes mentioned in the text, nor is there information about student supervision or grant funding. No affiliations with specific labs or research teams beyond the Cultures of Philosophy project are indicated.
