Emma Bartel is an academic in the field of History at Université Paris Cité, where she holds the rank of Senior Lecturer. Her research focuses on the history of knowledge in 17th-18th century Britain, intellectual and cultural history, and the history of science and religion with a particular emphasis on women’s history.
- Education: PhD, Sorbonne Université (2023), with a thesis on Women’s Engagement with the Art of Protestant Meditation in Seventeenth-Century England.
- Current Research: Monograph projects on The Art of Thinking in the British Isles: 1580-1750 and Portable Knowledge in the British Isles and the Early American Colonies (1600-1800), exploring paper technologies like pocket books and almanacs.
