Prof. Dr. Florian Weber is a full professor at Saarland University's Department of European Social Sciences since April 2025 and Cluster Professor in European Studies. Affiliated with CEUS (Cluster for European Studies), he focuses on cross-border interconnected areas in Europe, European metropolization processes, and energy transitions in the EU.

His research combines border region analysis with energy transition studies, addressing topics like Schengen Area dynamics, cross-border healthcare infrastructure, and conflicts surrounding renewable energy projects. Recent publications examine pandemic impacts on European border regions and hydrogen infrastructure development in SaarLorLux.
As founding member and board member (2021-2023) of CEUS, he co-leads the UniGR Center for Border Studies and collaborates with scholars like Dominik Brodowski and Julia Dittel. His team includes research associates working on border architecture, 5G conflicts, and biosphere reserve sustainability.
