Florian Steiner is an Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Geneva. His research focuses on epigenetic inheritance of chromatin states, particularly the roles of histone variants like CENP-A and H3.3 in centromere maintenance, chromosome segregation, and developmental processes.
Research interests:
- Epigenetic mechanisms in centromeric chromatin
- Histone variant functions in development and disease
- C. elegans as a model for cancer mutations (H3.3K27M)
- Chromatin state transmission across generations
- Interplay between centromeric proteins and mitotic processes
Publications highlight three-dimensional centromere organization, CENP-A domain analysis, and H3.3 mutant phenotypes. His work connects chromatin structure to cellular outcomes like aneuploidy and cancer models.
