Florian Quinger is a PhD candidate at the Department of Functional Microbiology in Farm Animals at the University of Hohenheim’s Institute of Animal Sciences (since July 2023). He also serves as a non-scientific research associate at the Department of Animal Husbandry, Breeding, and Nutrition at Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences. His research focuses on livestock microbiome dynamics, particularly the impact of dietary components on nutrient digestibility and gut microbiota in poultry and swine.
Education:
- Bachelor’s in Agriculture (Animal Production), Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences
- Master’s in Agricultural Sciences (Animal Sciences), University of Hohenheim
Research Interests: Florian investigates fermentable carbohydrates, bacterial fermentation processes, and enzyme supplements in livestock feed. His work contributes to optimizing nutrient utilization and microbiome health in production animals. Current projects include the PiFerm initiative exploring pea-based diets in pigs.
