Florent Allais

Florent Allais serves as Professor in Chemistry at AgroParisTech, a premier French higher education institution based in Paris, and concurrently directs the Chair ABI (Industrial Agro-Biotechnologies) in Reims, France. This dual affiliation underscores his leadership in bridging academic research with industrial applications of agro-resources.

His research specializes in sustainable industrial processes for converting agro-resources—such as biorefinery by-products and agro-waste—into high value-added products. Key focus areas include lignin valorization for chemical and polymer synthesis, hemicellulose utilization, and pretreatment of cellulosic materials for nanoproduct development. These efforts position him at the forefront of circular economy innovation within green chemistry and biomass conversion.

At PALS, Prof. Allais actively collaborates across multiple high-impact projects: with Dr. Kei Saito on lignin-derived polymers (Project 1), A/Prof. Tony Patti and Prof. Gil Garnier on hemicellulose valorization (Project 2), and A/Prof. Victoria Haritos on nanocellulose production (Project 9). His role as Director of the Chair ABI further amplifies industry-academia partnerships aimed at transforming agricultural waste streams into viable industrial feedstocks.
