Florence Larcher is a doctoral candidate in Art History at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and a member of the Lise Meitner Group "Decay, Loss, and Conservation in Art History" at the Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Planck Institute for Art History. Her research bridges Italian Renaissance art, religious iconography, and sacred materiality, with a focus on Saint Roch's devotional imagery and its intersections with public health, conservation, and cultural practices.
Her research interests include Religious Art, Iconoclasm, Sacred Materiality, and Art Conservation. She has presented at international conferences such as Exvoto. Creación, subversión y transgresión (Madrid, 2022) and Medieval Wall Paintings (London, 2023).
Her publications explore themes like the role of Saint Roch in plague imagery, Renaissance clothing symbolism, and anatomical representation in medieval and Renaissance art, reflecting her engagement with interdisciplinary questions at the intersection of art theory, conservation, and religious studies.
She has received research support from institutions such as the Académie de France à Rome – Villa Médicis and the École française de Rome (2021, 2024), and is an active member of the Collectif Renaissance since 2019.
