Florence E. Bacabac serves as Professor of English at Utah Tech University, teaching professional and technical writing courses since 2008 while spearheading the department's Master of Arts program in technical writing and digital rhetoric since 2019.
Her academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Writing and M.A. in TESL from Bowling Green State University, complemented by B.A. and M.A. degrees in English (Language) from the University of the Philippines - Diliman.
Research focuses intensely on technology-mediated writing instruction, exploring intersections of digital rhetoric and professional communication through lenses of second language acquisition and gender dynamics. Her work emphasizes writing across disciplines and community-engaged pedagogy, particularly examining how collaborative digital tools transform classroom practices and support diverse learners.
Actively engaged in scholarly service, she reviews manuscripts for leading journals including Business and Professional Communication Quarterly and Computers and Composition Online. Notably, she founded Utah Tech's Women's Resource Center (2012-2013), which evolved into the comprehensive Student Resource Center providing cross-disciplinary mentoring and professional development resources for female students.
