Dr. Florence Alice Brown is a Researcher at ETH Zürich's Department of Atmospheric Chemistry, part of the Professur für Atmosphärenchemie. She joined ETH Zurich in 2024 after completing her PhD at the University of Exeter (2024) and earlier degrees at the University of Cambridge (BSc and MSc, 2020). Her research focuses on ozone chemistry, atmosphere-biosphere interactions, and Earth system modelling. Her master's work on volcanic eruption impacts on the QBO earned an award from Cambridge's Chemistry Department.
Education:
- BSc and MSc in Chemistry, University of Cambridge (2020)
- PhD in Chemistry (Title: 'Next-generation modelling for ozone-plant damage'), University of Exeter (2024)
Research emphasizes tropical surface ozone chemistry and its ecological effects, leveraging advanced modelling techniques. Her work bridges atmospheric dynamics with environmental impacts, particularly volcanic forcings and climate interactions.
Awards:
- Department of Chemistry Prize, University of Cambridge (2020)
Her contributions include foundational studies on QBO variability and volcanic influences, advancing understanding of atmospheric response mechanisms. Currently, her research at ETH Zurich continues exploring ozone-vegetation interactions and Earth system predictability.
