Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversityمعرفی
Dr. Flora Ferati-Sachsenmaier serves as a Lecturer at the University of Göttingen's Department of Sociology and currently holds a Visiting Fellowship at the Platform for Global and Transregional Studies. Her academic trajectory began with a doctorate in global governance from Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS) in 2015.
Her research focuses on conflict dynamics and peacebuilding processes in politically contested regions, with particular expertise in post-conflict societies of the Western Balkans. Key areas include interethnic reconciliation mechanisms, the evolving role of women's movements since the 1980s, and global-local civil society interactions. Her work critically examines Western Balkans as contested spaces of global power influence and Albanian Muslim identity within European Islam discourse.
Her publications reveal consistent thematic focus across transitional justice, reconciliation failures, and religious identity politics. The 2019 International Journal of Transitional Justice article established her framework for analyzing Kosovo's reconciliation processes, while subsequent work expanded to broader Balkan conflict legacies and religious othering phenomena.
As an educator, she has directed graduate coursework on ethnic conflict reconciliation, Balkan women's movements, and diaspora perspectives. Her current research integrates Global Albanian Studies with transregional power dynamics analysis through the University of Göttingen's specialized platforms.
