Flavia Cicuttini is a Professor at Monash University, leading the Musculoskeletal Unit and serving as Head of Rheumatology at Alfred Hospital. She holds specialist medical fellowships in Rheumatology and Public Health. Her research focuses on osteoarthritis prevention and treatment, including pioneering clinical trial methods now used globally. She has published over 600 manuscripts and supervised 20 doctoral students. Recognized as a top osteoarthritis researcher (ranked 5/86,000 globally in 2020), her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being.

Awards include Fellowship of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences (2019) and the Australian Rheumatology Association’s Parr Prize (2010) and Presidents’ Prize (2024). She chairs editorial boards, organizes international conferences, and advises on healthcare policy.
Current projects include optimizing osteoarthritis management through innovation, investigating hormonal influences on pain, and evaluating gene therapies. She leads teams at Monash University and collaborates globally through OARSI and the World COACH consortium.
