Flavia Canestrini is a Research Fellow at the LUISS Guido Carli, affiliated with the Department of Political Science. She holds a PhD in History from Sciences Po, Paris, with a thesis focused on U.S. economic sanctions as a foreign policy tool in the 1980s.
Her research explores the intersection of economic/financial interactions and international diplomacy, particularly how private actors gained leverage in this domain. Current projects examine U.S. divestment campaigns during the anti-apartheid movement and their impact on South Africa's financial relations from the 1970s to 1980s.
